In the world of computer graphics, knowing when to do and what to do can be annoying sometimes. However, the base of graphic images is on the vector and bitmap graphics. As people start working with the graphics, sometimes it can be very confusing to understand the proper use of vector graphics and bitmap graphics. In order to learn and master the art of computer graphics, it is therefore very important to understand the right differences between these two graphics.
Graphic images are of basically two types ‚ bitmap or raster images or vector images. If you want to be a designer, then it is must to have the right knowledge about bitmap and vector graphics. Else, you can mistakenly save your created files into some wrong formats so that you will not be able to use them again. Thus wasting you important time.
Vector files store images in simple shapes such as lines. While watching closely these lines and curves seem to be smooth. This is an advantage of vector graphics that you can resize a vector image without worrying about the resolution and clarity. That’s why they look fantastic after printing.
While, vector images are made of simple shapes, bitmap or raster images are made of pixels. While watching closely one can observe that these images are split in small squares or pixels. These types of images are mainly used for web graphics and can also be used for some complex pictures (like photos).
File Formats:-
- Vector formats ‚ EPS, AI, WMF
- Bitmap file formats ‚ BMP, TIFF, JPEG, GIF
All graphics designer software’s have their own formats. For example format of Photoshop is PSD; format of Illustrator is AI etc. You should save one copy of the project in the software’s own format as this will allow you to change and edit the file at a later stage. Once the file is saved with *.JPG, *.BMP, *.TIFF or *.GIF formats it can’t be edited.
Right now, there are only two bitmap file formats – GIF and JPEG that are used for the web-graphics. If you want to print the vector images, be careful while printing an EPS. As EPS files can print clearly only with a postscript printer. They can also be printed with a non-postscript printer but with less clarity and low-resolution.
There is lot more to know on this topic and there are many books available on this subject. If you are new to the profession of design than you should keep patience and instead of trying to learn each and everything at a time.
If you want, you can hire freelance designers to design computer graphics for you website or you blog there is a very good website named http://www.zenlayout.com and get most of your problems resolved with ease.

New and fresh young bands are coming up these days with music albums of every genre. Are you one among them? Are you looking for someone to design your first CD cover?
The CD cover is a very important marketing tool. Did you ever buy a CD album by just having a look at the cover, the logo or website? Well, I have definitely. When customers walk into a music store, they either go for a pre decided album or look around and pick up CD’s that catch their attention. It’s the CD cover that attracts them first. It is then that they have a glance at the contents, the name of the band and other details.
Your CD cover must convey the mood and feel of the album. It has to be visually creative and attractive. A talented graphic designer is one who understands how to use texts and images to attract customers to have a glance at the CD and ultimately buy one. The designer must listen to the songs before starting work on the design. This will help him in creating the right design cover. Images are very effective in conveying a story. For instance, a rock music album can have an image of a volcano or lightning to convey its feel.
Since you are a young band looking to design your first CD cover, there are bound to be budget constraints. If you opt for well known graphic design companies, the fees charged by them are high and exorbitant as they have a strong name and goodwill in the industry. One of the best ways is to log onto the internet. There are a number of websites that put up requirements of different clients and call for interested service providers. You too can put up your requirement on a website. There are innumerable freelance graphic designers looking for a chance to prove their mettle. They are raw and talented. Going through the list, you can choose the one that seems cut-out for your task. And the results will speak for themselves. In most cases, you find fresh and vibrant ideas translating into action. In addition, the money that you will have to pay to the website and the freelance designer will be very less as compared to the exorbitant fees of graphic design companies.
But it is always advisable to work on genuine and trusted websites. You could easily be fooled into paying advance money to a website and get nothing in hand. There are fake websites out there waiting to cheat people and make quick money. If you are interested in working with the right people, log on to http://zenlayout.com
